I have been commissioned to do a 10 tier Wedding Cake in the shortage time scale i.e. 4 days! Hence I am a little tired now and can't wait for sunday ( D DAY).

The Pier Cafe,Fleetwood

The Macmillan Coffee morning event held at the Pier Cafe,Fleetwood on Friday the 24th September. I was asked to judge the cake competition.
It was a pleasure to do this for such a good cause. I was joined with the mayor and mayoress of Wyre. Well the mayoress joined me in the judging. The mayor thought it would have been easier if it was a beer competion rather than cakes!!
It was well supported with regular customers taking part in the raffles, play your cards right and much,much more.
Unfortunately, I had to get back to the shop to finish some cakes after the judging .
The staff did a great job and I'm sure they would have raised lots of money.
Well Done.

Macmillan Coffee morning- The pier Cafe Fleetwood

I was invited on friday the 24th September to take part in the judging of the novelty cake competition, held at the Pier Cafe Fleetwood. This was in aid of the Macmillan Coffee Morning .
I was joined by the Mayoress of Wyre and together we gave the prize to the tea party cake. I enjoyed the morning and left them doing more fun games,raffles to raise lots of money.
Unfortunately, I had to get back to finish some cakes.
It was well supported with regular customers and they would have raised a huge amount for a good cause.

Graham forget to bring a cake so I got him to decorate one of my cake orders. Know pressure like!! You will see he did a brilliant job. Only the second week of the course. Well done.

Intermediate Class held at the shop

Week 4 of the Intermediate course and we did shaped cakes. The students decided they would like to do a handbag. The pictures show Sue and Janet with there finished cakes. They did brilliantly and very proud of there finished cakes.

Salmesbury Hall Christmas Craft fair

This is the third year I have been to Salmesbury Hall and once again it was well supported.

We had great fun getting the children to decorate gingerbread .

We have just finished the beginners class and we all had great fun.

The students all did very well and I have enclosed some photo's of them working and with there finished products.

The class included Emma,Pat,Rebecca,Teresa,Michelle,JoanneVictoria,Joanne and Karen in the pics. Unfortunately, three students were unable to attend the final week due to hols.

I look forward to seeing some of the students either at the shop or at Hodgson.

Work Experience

Last week Roseanna from Montgomery School came to the shop for work experience. Roseanna enjoyed her week and wished it was longer. Unfortunately, she had exams the following week. I'm sure all went well with her exams.,
The photo shows what Roseanna did on her final day to take home.
She did very well and hope it has given her an insight in what we do as cake decorators.

Alston Hall Sugarcraft Weekend

The British Sugarcraft Guild organised a weekend to Alston Hall for all Guild members.

Myself and Doreen and Betty (staff members) went for the weekend to expand our knowledge in sugarcraft.

It was hardwork, not alot of time to socialise- plenty of homework. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Maisee Parish showed us modelling tecnics- see Hippo Spa cake and Ann Brown showed us how to make a parrot tulip and sage flower spray- mine has got pride of place in my cabinet in the shop.

Thankyou Andrew Hill (BSG) for organising the event, can't wait for nexrt year.

Alston Hall sugarcraft weekend

This event was organised by the British sugercraft guild and myself Brenda and Doreen and Betty(staff members) spent a weekend extending our knowledge in sugarcraft.

Maisee Parish showed us modelling technics and Ann Brown showed us how to create a beutiful parrot tulip amd sage spray-( mine is in my display cabinet in the shop.

We all thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and would like to thank Andrew Hill (BSG) in organising the event.

It is nice to catch up with other guild members, not that we had time for chit chat- plenty of homework!!

Nicola's Hen weekend

Joanna arranged for her sister Nicola to add a little twist to the traditional Hen party. Some of the Hen party came to the shop in the afternoon of the 11th July . We had great fun with the help of a little bucks fizz! and my expertise.

They all enjoyed making cup cakes and when they left, they all had made atleast three to have later, or share with there loved ones!!

These are my running friends! It was great to catch up with friends I haven't seen for a while. It was great to reminisce in running races we have done in the past. Oh and lots of gossip!!!
